…On Mondays, we love and rally.
Loving Yourself is an Act of Resistance
Since starting my self-love journey, I’ve made some changes in my life. I stopped wearing makeup every single day – which is HUGE for me. I wouldn’t even go to the grocery store without makeup! I used to get botox, and now I don’t anymore (botulism is bad, folks!). And I no longer have a gym membership.
So that got me thinking… that’s quite a bit of money that I am no longer spending out of self-hatred.
What if this happened on a larger scale? Like if millions of women woke up tomorrow and truly loved themselves….what systems, markets, or industries would change? We could literally disrupt the world, right?
It’s no secret that lots of people are profiting off of your self-hatred and oppression. Gosh, that sounds terrible, doesn’t it? But it’s so true. In this way – loving yourself is literally an act of resistance.
And now that I am aware of this, I notice all the little marketing cues that subtly enter my brain. When you’re aware of these things, and you’re looking out for them, then you can prevent them going into your subconscious mind. You’re shielding my brain from these messages so that you are not letting them affect you in the same way that they did before. You are actively saying no. You are actively resisting.
So think about this. What is one entity that is getting your money because you feel like there is something about you that you need to fix? Is there any way you could learn to love that part of you a little more?
